How To Seo An Article

How to SEO an articleThis post is a review on the live webinar ”Let’s SEO An Article Live” which you can find it here. The webinar hosted by Jay Neill who is a premium member of Wealthy Affiliate with the username Magistudios. Let’s see below how to SEO an article.

In the webinar, Jay talks about the following topics:

  • Coming up with the Keyword Concepts
  • Writing & Formatting the Content
  • Adding the Meta Information
  • How to Post on Google+
  • Attaining Site Comments
  • Live Q & A Session

On this article, we are going to talk about all the topics above except the Q & A session. If you have participated the WA training and lessons you can see that Jay follow WA method. But it is helpful to see how a successful online marketer works.

Coming up with the Keyword Concepts

In this first part, Jay explains the reason because he chose the particular keyword “alternatives to the Amazon affiliate program”. However, he does not analyze in depth the basics of keyword research because the topic of this webinar is how to SEO an article. So, he chose that keyword because there are many people who are looking for alternative affiliate programs for many different reasons.

Getting content ideas from keywords is a great way to target these keywords and create more posts and pages. You can learn how to find low competition keywords and create content on Wealthy Affiliate.

Writing & Formatting the Content

From the first lessons on WA, you learn to include the keyword in the title and once in the first paragraph. You can write the rest of your article naturally without worrying about the keywords. This is exactly what Jay is doing. He also includes the keyword in the images alt tag and that’s all. Click here to take a look at the article and see how he used the keyword.

After that, Jay shows some of the tools he uses and where he get images before he talked about the internal links. Google likes internal links, they improve user experience and they keep your visitors more time on your website. However, they are helpful only when you link relevant posts and pages.

Adding the Meta Information

Next, Jay adds the SEO title and the meta description. The easiest way to do this is with a plugin like Yoast SEO or All in one SEO. If you use Yoast SEO, it will give useful instructions about the readability and SEO. It is recommended to include the keyword both on SEO title and meta description. Keep in mind that the meta description will be shown sometimes on social media when you share your content.

How to Post on Google+google plus

Sharing your content on social media and engaging people can improve your rankings and you could start with Google+ as it is more likely to be beneficial for SEO. When you have a new website, you may see sometimes your post on Google+ above your article on Google ranks. Jay is not just sharing his link but he writes a description on his post trying to capture the attention.

Attaining Site Comments

Last part of the webinar is about receiving comments. Jay uses the site comment platform of WA to get 10 comments. In this platform, you earn credits when you leave a comment on other websites and you can use the credits to ask for comments. The site comment platform is spam free, links are not allowed, the comment must be unique and at least 50 words. Except for the SEO benefits, comments build trust between you and your readers.

Affiliate Recourses is an established website, so it makes sense to get results faster than a new website. After the first week, the article was on the first page of Google for the targeted keyword and had been ranked for 39 other keywords. You can see the webinar and the results here.
